Why Reiki Works When Talking Isn’t Enough
Why Reiki Works When Talking Isn’t Enough
From my heart as a Reiki teacher
I love depth.
I love self-awareness.
I love it it when someone can name their pattern in real-time.
But let me tell you what I see over and over again.
Brilliant, self-aware, high-functioning women sitting in front of me… completely exhausted in their bodies.
They understand their trauma.
They understand their attachment style.
They’ve had the conversations.
And yet their nervous system is still on high alert.
Because healing isn’t just insight.
It’s safety.
And safety is not something you think your way into.
It’s something your body experiences.
As a teacher, the most powerful moments aren’t dramatic. They’re subtle.
A woman who hasn’t taken a full breath in months suddenly exhales.
Someone says, “My mind is quiet.”
Another whispers, “I didn’t know how much I was holding.”
I’ve watched students arrive overwhelmed, holding careers, caregiving, relationship stress, world events... and by the end of a weekend, something shifts. Not dramatically. Not theatrically. But tangibly.
One of my students told me after her 21-day self-practice:
“I’ve done years of therapy. This is the first time my body feels like it’s included.”
Another shared:
“The world still feels intense. But I don’t feel like I’m drowning in it anymore.”
That matters.
Because let’s be honest ...the world is loud right now. There’s collective stress everywhere. And sensitive nervous systems feel it all.
Reiki doesn’t make you numb.
It makes you resourced.
It doesn’t bypass reality.
It builds capacity inside of it.
When you learn Reiki, you stop waiting for someone else to regulate you. You stop outsourcing your steadiness. You build a daily relationship with your own safety.
That is power. Quiet, embodied power.
